claire and cows
my dad referred to this picture in an earlier comment, and he's said before that this is his favorite picture of me. through the magic of the internet, here it is. :) this is me, circa 1985 (? confirm this, dad) in my blue smurf boots, which i remember as being AWESOME, helping to herd the cows into the dairy barn to be milked. dad is amused by this because the cows want to be milked and will go into the barn on their own, so i'm not actually doing anything productive. am i not the cutest thing ever, though?

I think early Spring, 1985, is right. The red cow in front of you is Melanie; the blonde cow in front of her is Daisy Mae, and the dark brown cow to the right looks like Emma. The Smurf boots are earning their keep -- that's not mud you are walking through.
Yay! So excited for the Claire and cows photo. Just checking your last few posts - was traveling off-line for a long weekend - and the grass-walking thing is hilarious! Who knew?
This is a famous photograph. If I'm not mistaken, it was honored with a spot in your grandmother's photo album. In fact, you were among the cutest little creatures alive in those days.
