remember when we were in budapest and i didn't post any pictures because i didn't have wireless internet? well, my friends, our hostel in munich does have wireless, so i'm able to post pictures here - hooray! jenny and i are catching a 12:30 train to interlaken but we've got a bit of time before we need to walk to the train station, so i'll entertain you will budapest today.
actually, first - this is how much/little i packed for eight weeks in europe/england! are you impressed? you should be. and magically, every thing still fits in my bags! actually, that is a lie. my rain jacket no longer fits, but it's not inconvenient to carry it. i am amazing. (and aunt monica and uncle avery: this is the suitcase you got me when i graduated from college and it was the best present i could have asked for at that point! i take it everywhere, and now it is rolling around europe with me. hooray.)

okay, budapest. one of our favorite sites was st. stephen's basilica, seen here:

apparently the dome collapsed when it was initially being built and there was a lot of reworking done before it was finally completed. we loved this basilica not just because it is one of the highest points on the pest side of the river in budapest and is really beautiful from the outside, but because it is just stunning inside. this is a shot from inside looking up at the main dome.

i really like this picture, of the woodwork on the ends of the pews in the church.

on the second day we were there we went across the river and into buda and climbed to the top of castle hill to get some great views of the city. this is looking back into pest, and you can see the basilica here, too.

you can also see one of the many bridges here that crosses the danube river. we have no idea what this bridge is called. the elizabeth bridge, maybe? the only time we really were lost (for about 10 minutes) in budapest was when we crossed the wrong bridge and then were confused by why we couldn't find the streets we were looking for. oh: because those streets branch off from one of the OTHER bridges. right.
alright: train time. to interlaken we go!

Hi, It's me, Monica, commenting on your blog. Will wonders never cease? (thanks for the tutorial, Beck)You are obviously having a grand time! By the way, I'm with Becky on the sneakers and skirt thing. However, if you can't fit your rainjacket in your bag, then the sneaks definitely won't make it in. So, I guess you just have to carry them on your feet!
