last stop: dublin

as indicated, dublin was our last stop on our whirlwind tour of the british isles. tips for others interested in doing a similar trip: 3 days in london, 2 days in edinburgh, and 3 days in dublin is too little time in each location, but is enough time to have fun and see a lot of cool stuff. and take a 2 hour nap every afternoon. traveling is tiring.

we stayed about 20 minutes (by train) north of dublin because all the hotels in dublin were taken or expensive - because the six nations rugby match between ireland and wales was taking place in dublin the weekend we were there! and the wales rugby team stayed at our hotel! it was quite exciting, and really fun to watch the game in a pub with lots of crazy fans. really cool to watch a sport that's not big in the us but is big in europe.

here are some photos of how pretty ireland is - the first is from the beach outside our hotel and the second is of the river liffey that runs through the city of dublin. so you get country ireland and then city ireland, all in one day.

dublin was less about sightseeing for us than the previous cities were, mostly because we were tired of sightseeing and the food and beer was delicious, so we kind of took it easy. we did go to the guinness brewery and take a tour and get a "free" guinness, which was gross (the beer, not the tour). this is us outside the brewery.

note that we look really cold...winter coats for everyone. compare to london, where it was sunnier and warmer and i wore a lighter jacket. those times were over in edinburgh and dublin, where we had some snow flurries and the wind blew like you wouldn't believe. here's a picture of some of us staying warm in a pub in dublin.

and then our trip was over and we were on our flight back to atlanta. lots of funny moments and beautiful scenery and awesome food and delicious beer and good friends. we're glad to be home but had such a great time.

the end.  sniff.
